Copying Your Favorite Movies from DVD to Your Computer

There are several ways to copy your favorite movies from DVD to your computer, however below you will find instructions for what we feel is the simplest method.

Once you have saved the installation file to your computer, launch the file to start the installation and follow the few simple steps presented (leaving all defaults will be sufficient).

At the end of the installation, the program should start automatically.

 

COPY THE DVD TO YOUR COMPUTER

The DVD Decryptor interface will look similar to the figure below.

Place the DVD movie in your DVD drive (reader or writer) and allow the program approximately 15-30 seconds to read the movie files on the disc.

When you are ready to start copying the movie to your computer, click the Decrypt button (see below).

The copying process will start and could take anywhere from 30-60 minutes to complete, depending on the speed of your computer and DVD drive. You will require as much as 9Gb of free space on your computer for full-length DVD movies.

Now that you have copied the DVD movie to your computer, you have several options, including backing up the movie to a blank DVD and/or watching the movie directly on your computer.

To backup the movie to a blank DVD, please refer to the Copying DVDs section. To watch the movie on your computer, please refer to the Playing Movies section.

Note: You will use the VLC Media Player to watch your movie...once opening VLC, navigate to the folder where you copied the DVD to on your computer, and select all files ending in .VOB. The movie will start automatically and will play all files in the proper sequence for the entire movie.
