RIPPING AUDIO CD's WITH WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER 10

To verify the version of WMP you have, select Help from the main menu and choose About Windows Media Player. If you do not have the latest version you can download it from the Media Players section of this website.

  1. Open Windows Media Player
  2. Place the music CD you would like to copy in your CD/DVD drive
  3. Select Rip from the menu along the top
  4. All tracks on the CD will be listed, and if available, the album, song and artist information will be displayed for each track
  5. Remove the check mark in the box beside each song that you do NOT want to rip and click the Rip Music button near the top right of the program
  6. The status will be displayed beside each track as it is being copied and the selected files will be automatically saved to your music library

You can download iTunes v4 for Windows and Mac from the Media Players section of this website.

  1. Open iTunes
  2. Place the music CD you would like to copy in your CD/DVD drive
  3. The audio CD title will appear under the Source column to the left side of the program
  4. Click on the title to display all tracks on the CD
  5. Remove the check mark in the box beside each song that you do NOT want to rip and click the Import button near the top right corner of the program
  6. The status will be displayed at the top as it is being copied and the selected files will be automatically saved to your music library

You can download MusicMatch Jukebox v9 for Windows from the Media Players section of this website.

  1. Open MusicMatch Jukebox
  2. Place the music CD you would like to copy in your CD/DVD drive
  3. Select Copy from CD from the menu on the left
  4. A new window will open showing all tracks on the CD
  5. Remove the check mark in the box beside each song that you do NOT want to rip and click the Start Copy button near the top left of the program
  6. A message may be displayed advising that the CD drive needs to be configured...click OK to continue and the copy process will start once the drive has been configured
  7. The status will be displayed beside each track, as well as at the bottom the window, as it is being copied and the selected files will be automatically saved to your music library

 

RIPPING AUDIO CD's WITH NERO EXPRESS 6

  1. Open Nero Express
  2. Place the music CD you would like to copy in your CD/DVD drive
  3. Click the More button on the bottom of the Nero Express screen to display additional program options
  4. Click the Save Tracks to Hard Drive button
  5. A new window will appear asking you to select your drive...select the drive that contains the audio CD and all tracks on the disc will now be displayed, along with several other options
  6. Select all files you wish to copy (or click the Select All button to select all tracks on the CD)
  7. Select the format you would like to save the file as (we recommend you select MP3)
  8. Click the Browse button beside Path to select a location for the files to be saved on your hard drive
  9. Click the Options button to display other options available while copying
  10. Click GO to start the copying process
  11. All files selected from the CD will be saved to the folder you selected in Step 8 above
